What it does

One app, both platforms

Most tools do Windows or Mac. BootIt does both, natively, from your Mac — and bundles everything it needs.

🪟
Windows 10 & 11

Download an ISO straight from Microsoft (edition + language) or use your own, written to a UEFI-bootable FAT32/MBR drive. Optional one-click bypass of the Windows 11 TPM, Secure Boot & RAM checks.

🍎
macOS

Download any macOS installer Apple offers, or use an “Install macOS …” app you already have, then build the drive with Apple’s own createinstallmedia.

📦
Self-contained

A tiny (~3 MB) native app that bundles everything it needs. No Homebrew, no Terminal, no extra installs. Splits oversized install.wim files automatically.

🔓
Free & open source

MIT licensed, no subscriptions, no telemetry. Downloads come direct from Microsoft’s and Apple’s official servers — BootIt never touches your data.

How it works

Three steps

01
Pick a platform & source

Choose Windows or macOS, then download from the vendor or point at a file you already have.

02
Pick your USB drive

Only external drives are listed — your internal disk is never shown. Confirm the erase.

03
Write it

BootIt formats and writes a fully bootable installer, then verifies the boot files.

First launch: BootIt is unsigned (it’s free — the same as sharing the source), so macOS blocks it once. Open it via System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway. You only do this the first time.
